I’m team Ben Gibbard all the way (take that, Zooey), which is why when he announced his first solo album release (called “Former Lives,” out October 16^th), I held a celebratory party.  Granted, it was just me and my dog and a few shots of Grey Goose (for me – the dog got a couple of apple slices… not as exciting, but less death-inducing), but it was a party nonetheless.

When Ichiro Suzuki left his hometown team to join the Yankees, Gibbard shared this song (lovingly titled “Ichiro’s Theme”) with the world, giving us a taste of his solo sound.  I say yes.
